New Office…and VOIP

It is the Fifth of September, and Bitnetix has fully moved to its new offices at High Tech Rochester in the Lennox Tech Center.  Today is the first day that our entire staff is working from the same office at the same time.  What a beautiful sight to see all that productivity all at once.

Of couse, the first thing we did was to plug in our phones.  This is the first time that we have all been able to simply talk to each other without calling each other on the phone first.  After moving them from their previous disparate locations in various places to the new spots reserved for them on their shiny new desks, they just... well, they just worked.  Not a single setting to change, not a single configuration file to update, and not a single missed call while they were unplugged and in transit (because our voicemail system works in the cloud even while our phones are unplugged).

This is only one benefit of using our own VOIP service to provide our business with the right communication at the right time.  Unplug a phone and the voicemail is still working in the background.  Got a voicemail while in transit?  It gets sent as an email attachment and shows up on desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.  Need to call them back while unpacking?  Pop up the smartphone VOIP client app and call them back using the office phone number and not your cell phone number.  Ready to hook up the new phone?  Plug it into the network and power (or just the network if you have Power over Ethernet).  Poof!  You're back up and running.

Bitnetix makes this look so easy and work so seamlessly that we forget that it might appear as magic to some people.  After all,

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
-Arthur C. Clarke, "Profiles of the Future," 1961

We don't just provide the right communication at the right time for our clients, we do it for ourselves, too.  Bitnetix is the Business of Communication.
