Look like a bigger business (and act like one) and you will be perceived as a bigger business, resulting in more trust, value, and sales.  Here’s one way to help you do just that.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy.

How many times have you heard that?  Today’s small business owner has to do more with less, compete with domestic and foreign organizations, and go after customer dollars that are harder to get with each day that passes.  Lots of options are great when you’re the consumer – not so great when you’re the supplier.  Here’s one way to differentiate your small business and get more of those dollars.

Most B2B buyers want to buy from businesses that have been around for a while.  They also want support from businesses that will be around for a while more.  Looking like a small, one-person operation when you’re trying to sell to a Fortune 500 company is a surefire way to not get the deal.  So take every step you can to make yourself look like a bigger, more established company.  Look like a bigger business (and act like one) and you will be perceived as a bigger business.

One  thing the big guys do is to use a professional, business phone system.  Cell phones and online video services are great for communicating internally or for marathon engineering sessions, but not for a sales call.  Plus, once you start advertising your cell phone as your business phone, you are never able to unring that bell.  Your friends, family, co-workers, current clients, and potential customers will all call that number from here on out.

Bigger Business Means Bigger Sales

“Press 1 for sales, or 2 for support” may be annoying or helpful (you decide for yourself), but “dial your party’s extension at any time,” the ability to have per-user voicemail, transfer calls among extensions, music on hold, queues, ring groups, time-of-day call routing, and dozens of other features can help make you look and sound like a big company.  Which can make you look more attractive as a vendor to that buyer.
